Lazydog rum cocktails for summer

5 Rum Cocktails for Summer

Summer's the easiest time of year to drink rum properly, so here are five we actually make at home, not cocktail menu fantasy stuff you need eleven ingredients for.

1. Silver Rum and Ginger Beer

Lazydog Silver Rum

Our Silver Rum, plenty of ice, a good ginger beer and a wedge of lime. That's it. It's the drink we make most, because it barely counts as a recipe.

2. A Proper Mojito

Silver Rum, fresh mint, lime, a bit of sugar syrup, soda water. Muddle the mint gently, don't batter it to death, and use fresh lime every time. Bottled lime juice ruins this one.

3. Spiced Rum and Cloudy Lemonade

Lazydog Spiced Rum

Our Spiced Rum works surprisingly well against cloudy lemonade rather than cola. Ice, a slice of orange if you've got one, done.

4. Sloe Rum Spritz

Lazydog Sloe Rum

Our Sloe Rum, prosecco, a splash of soda, over ice. Lighter than you'd expect for something that started life picked from a hedgerow.

5. Honey Rum Lemonade

Lazydog Honey Rum Liqueur

Our Honey Rum Liqueur with lemonade and a sprig of mint if you're feeling fancy. Good for people who claim they don't like rum.

None of these need a cocktail shaker or a course in mixology. Ice, the right rum, and something decent to top it up with gets you most of the way there.

Please drink responsibly.
